WWE SmackDown star Ricochet challenged for Carmelo Hayes’ North American Championship in the opening match of NXT Worlds Collide.

The match was extremely fast paced, with Ricochet and Hayes showing off their athleticism with a number of impressive spots.

Ricochet got a convincing near-fall from a crucifix pin, but Hayes kicked out at the last possible moment to stay alive in the bout.

In the closing moments of the bout, Trick Williams tried to strike Ricochet with the title belt, but Ricochet disposed of Williams. Ricochet attempted a shooting star press, but Hayes rolled up Ricochet for the three-count.

Ricochet is the first main roster star to compete on tonight’s card. Doudrop & Nikki ASH are set to challenge for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship later on the show.
