THE Philippine Red Cross is preparing its manpower and equipment in anticipation of the entry of Super Typhoon “Mawar” in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) over the weekend.

The typhoon will enter the PAR by Friday evening or early Saturday morning and will be named as “Betty.”

In a statement, the PRC said that its rescue and relief assets, equipment and volunteers are ready to move.

It also has made available its food trucks, relief goods, water tankers and payloaders, while ambulances and generators have been prepositioned in vulnerable areas.

The PRC Emergency Response Unit is also preparing its rescue equipment, while the Red Cross 143 volunteers are preparing to report to the PRC Operations Center the situation in their areas of coverage.

PRC Secretary-General Gwendolyn Pang said that Red Cross’ team of volunteers, health workers and staff are ready to “cross roads and seas to reach communities and areas that will be affected,”
