Many WWE NXT stars made their way up to the main roster as a part of the 2023 WWE Draft.
Of those names, the one that stood out to most people was Grayson Waller, who was drafted to the SmackDown brand as a part of the supplemental draft.
Waller was featured heavily during his time in NXT, including a mini-feud with Shawn Michaels himself prior to NXT Stand & Deliver.
Speaking on the NXT Battleground media call, Shawn spoke about Waller’s call-up to SmackDown.
Michaels praised the Australian as being ‘mature, smart and bright’, before claiming he is ‘everything you want in a WWE superstar’.
Waller made his SmackDown debut this past week, hosting the Grayson Waller Effect with guest AJ Styles.
Elsewhere on the call, Shawn spoke about the NXT status of Bron Breakker, and whether a call-up is in his immediate future.
The card for NXT Battleground on Sunday, May 28 is as follows:
NXT Championship – Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Bron Breakker
NXT Women’s Championship – Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton
Heritage Cup Championship – Noam Dar (c) vs. Dragon Lee
NXT Tag Team Championship – Mark Coffey & Wolfgang (c) vs. Brutus & Julius Creed
North American Championship – Wes Lee (c) vs. Joe Gacy vs. Tyler Bate
Last Man Standing – Dijak vs. Ilja Dragunov
