The Labour Party (LP) candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has claimed to have won Saturday’s governorship election.
Naija News reports that Rhodes-Vivour made this known in a series of tweets via his verified Twitter account on Sunday.
The LP flagbearer said results from his field agents show that he defeated the incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rhodes-Vivour said he is convinced beyond any doubt that the outcome of the election does not represent the wishes of the majority of peaceful Lagosians.
Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to declare a winner in the election, Sanwo-Olu is on course for victory.
He has won 18 of the 19 Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced so far while Rhodes-Vivour has secured victory in one.
Why I Will Never Call Sanwo-Olu To Congratulate Him – Rhodes-Vivour
Rhodes-Vivour has stated that he will never call to congratulate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his victory at the poll.
He described the election as a sham stating it is an illegality that has never been perpetrated in the history of the state.
Gbadebo also referenced how Labour Party agents were chased away from several polling units and supporters were not allowed to vote.
Giving a reason why he would not congratulate Sanwo-Olu, the LP candidate said the election was marred with so much violence that has set a bad precedence.
